Introduction
It is named Bangudae because a layered rock located at the end of Sayeonho Lake in Daegok-ri, Eonyang-eup resembles a turtle lying flat on the ground.
Unique-shaped rocks made of clay-slate form layers like a terrace where a branch of Bangusan Mountain (265 m) reaches and stops, and their harmony with pine trees growing from the cracks of the rock and the pure water of Daegokcheon Stream flowing dynamically below produce a beautiful landscape painting.
When Poeun Jeong Mong-ju, a loyal vassal from the late Goryeo dynasty, was exiled in Eonyang. It is said that he often visited Bangudae to enjoy the scenery and soothe the agony of a life in exile.
